Creative activities we are developing
Our programme is being shaped with local people and community partners so that activities respond to real interests and needs. Opportunities will vary as partnerships, venues and funding develop.
Drama & theatre
Expression, teamwork and performance skills in a welcoming environment.
Music & comedy
Shared activity that brings people together and opens routes into live performance.
Visual arts & making
Explore ideas, learn techniques and create alongside other people.
Skills & confidence
Creative learning that supports communication, employability and leadership.
For every age and experience level
We are developing opportunities for children and young people, adults, families, older residents, emerging creatives and people who may not usually feel that arts activity is for them.
Why community arts matter
Creative activity can build confidence, support wellbeing, reduce isolation and create stronger connections between neighbours. It offers a safe way to express ideas and discover new strengths.
A creative home in Kirkby
Alongside outreach activity, Alara is progressing plans for a welcoming creative hub where people can learn, create, perform and belong. The proposed space remains subject to approvals and development work.
Where could your creativity lead?
Taking part can be for enjoyment, confidence and connection. For people who want to develop further, our proposed Pathway to Work explores practical skills, work samples, professional insight and possible next steps towards suitable paid opportunities. Dates and delivery arrangements remain in development; work and bookings are not guaranteed.
